A LITTLE EXPERIMENT...
For some time I have wanted to experiment with this block design. Most of the cards I've seen have squares that are at least 1-1/4" in size, but after playing with this, I made my squares only 1" in size. The smaller square did not show off the design as well. Or perhaps it was the printed paper I chose. (I feel a re-do coming.)

Trying a new technique always inspires me...

Your cards are always inspiring, Linda. I think it's the patterns and colors of the DSP- they draw your eye away from the design. I also think perhaps switching the Island Indigo to a different layer would make a big difference. Your cards always look so exactly well measured, etc!!

I think the Island Indigo DSP blends into the Island Indigo card stock. What about reversing the card base and mat so the pinwheel is on Calypso Coral and the card base is Island Indigo?
