DAD'S DAY!

Father

06/18/2010

ONLY 12 DAYS... ARE YOU GOOD WITH THAT?

To make this card, I used several supplies and accessories from the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog... like the Cherry Cobbler Card Stock (isn't it delicious)... and the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (I know you'll want one)... and the crown from the Artistic Etchings Stamp Set (you could feel like a queen)... and how about the rhinestone (can you say 150 pieces for only $4.95)...

THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE NOT THINGS...

Many thanks to all of you who emailed or called yesterday to wish me a HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I had a wonderful day and felt so loved and cherished by family and friends who showered me with cards and flowers and cheerful wishes!

Now I want to share two cards that were made by my Upline, Diana Morris, who has been a special friend for many years. Her design work and artistic style is always stunning with meticulous attention to every detail.  Look at these cards, then read below to see how she made the pretty backgrounds...

Diana1-1

And here is another of her cards using the same special-effect technique...

Diana2-1

Diana2-2

To get the background design, Diana used the Presto Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper, shown on page 15 in the Summer Mini Catalog... Then, with Stampin' Pads, in the colors to match her theme, she used a Brayer applicator, shown on page 192 in the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog, and applied ink over the patterns in the papers.

The vintage background on Card #1 has a beautiful glossy shine and adds an elegant, rich finish.  The patterned design on Card #2 is a perfect match for the cone holding the double-decker scoop of ice cream!

Thanks, Diana!  We think you are the Best!

A LITTLE BIT OLD & A LITTLE BIT NEW...

This evening, I sat down and made this little kit in about two hours.  It is soooo simple and shouldn't have taken that long - but I dilly dallied with it... Actually, I dallied more than I dillied...

Notes

While making it, I was thinking about Donny and Marie... You know... A little bit country and a little bit rock and roll.  But in this case, I was thinking... A LITTLE BIT OLD and A LITTLE BIT NEW.  Some supplies are out of the old catalog and some out of the new.

Supplies & Accessories: Stamp Set #120030 Punched Posies (SMC); Stamp Pads #111836 Riding Hood Red, #119668 Marina Mist, 105217 Certainly Celery, 105213 So Saffron; Card Stock #100730 Whisper White, #111348 Riding Hood Red, #119682 Marina Mist, #105125 Certainly Celery, #105118 So Saffron; Patterns Designer Series Paper #112151 Bashful Blue; Punches #118874 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Extra Large, #109043 Scallop Circle, #107217 3/4" Circle, #109047 3/16" Corner Rounder; Big Shot and #117335 Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder; Ribbon #109025 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain; Envelopes #107309 Whisper White Mini Square; Adhesive #104430 Stampin' Dimensionals.
