NEVER TOO MANY PURSES...

With spring and summer approaching, it's time for a new purse (or two or three)...

Final Purse1

This purse is large enough to hold lots of stuff.  The base measures 8-1/2" x 2".  The side panels wrap around the bottom to give it extra support.

Final Purse3

Another view shows the structure of the bottom...

Final Purse2

I especially love the curve on this flap and latch.

P1

And here's another purse for different season...

P2

On every purse, the flap, latch, handle trim and overlap on the bottom are shaped to match, making it unique from all others...

P3

The purse pattern is made from one 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of Designer Series Paper, plus a little plain Card Stock for the trim.  I'm thinking of putting the pattern and instructions in my Polka Dots Store.  Cost will be $5.  Are you in?

A TRIP TO THE ZOO...

A trip to the zoo is just one of the fun activities that can take place on a spring day...  And HOO-RAY, spring is almost here!

Zoo

To make the 3-D square... 1) Cut a 4"x 4" square.  2) Score at 2" x 2" to find the exact center.  3) Fold the corners to the center point.  4) Fold flaps back.  5) 3-D square may be glued down or left open as shown. 6) Insert image-of-choice in center.

Zoo2

Whether at the zoo with the kids and grand kids - or in the stamping studio making cards - GOOD TIMES is a sure thing!

COUNTDOWN TO SPRING...

I unpacked my Easter decorations today.  One of my favorites is Mrs. Rabbit.  I made her in ceramics about 20 years ago...

Mom rabb

Looking at the decorations made me excited to work on some new stamping projects like handmade baskets out of pretty Designer Series Paper. They will be hidden all around our home for the grand kids to seek and find.

2bask

Of course, they'll be filled with little treasures and candy too...

If you are a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, the pattern for this basket is on the website.  Go to Show & Tell > Pattern Library > Baskets.  If you're not a demonstrator, but would like to be, click on My Website button (right sidebar), then click on Start Your Own Business.  The password is Sunshine Girls!  Within 15 minutes, you could have access to the demonstrator website and download a basket pattern of your very own!

I'm looking forward to sharing a variety of fun and fancy projects of spring with you in the next week or so...

REASONS TO CELEBRATE...

Recently, a friend asked me to design a birthday card for someone at her work, and she had specific guidelines... It had to be red, white and blue... say celebrate... have simple lines... and be industrial-looking...

Thisone

I'm always thrilled (yes, thrilled) to tackle a project and have such a nice selection of accessories already on hand.  That's just part of the benefits of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  Click on JOIN MY TEAM at the top of this page, to read more about those benefits!

AS CUTE AS A BUG!

If you know someone who needs a little friendly cheer, here's an idea...

Bug

See how it opens... The flap is snugly adhered to the card front...

Bug2

These little flutters add motion and are achieved by piercing holes on top of a light pencil line then erasing it.

SORT OF A FABRIC LOOK-A-LIKE...

There's lots of talk about TEXTILES and FABRICS for card and project-making, but here's something made from paper that almost LOOKS like it could be fabric...

Markx

To get perfect placement for the four cross stitches, I punched holes using the Paper-Piercing Tool and the Mat Pack.  To "sew" the sections together, I used several strands of embroidery thread and a needle with a large eye.  To fray the paper edges, I used the Cutter Kit Distressing Tool.  For more interest, I turned the paper grain of the three bottom circles at a 90 degree angle - but - the grain on the top circle is horizontal like the card.

AS PRETTY AS A PICTURE...

As I was weaving paper strips for the front of this card, I decided to let the striking design elements stand alone without a stamped greeting...

Black Butter

Embossing the woven background dressed it up even more.  A card with bright colors and a layout like this might be a perfect choice for the recipent to matte and frame.
