DREAMING OF GARDENS AND SPRING...

I've always been a Stamp-a-ma-jig-kind-of-girl... But I didn't need it when I stamped this card using the new clear-mount blocks and stamps!

Garden1

I'm having so much fun with these clear-mount products... It's like Christmas came early to my house!

 Garden2

This little-bit-of-country card design looks nice with a matching envelope.

SPRING - AND MANY THINGS NEW!

Take a look at this!  When I used the BRAND NEW CLEAR-MOUNT BLOCK and REPOSITIONABLE STAMP for the first time, I let out a little squeal of joy!  It was so neat to position the stamp on the exact center of the oval, seeing right through the block, for perfect placement of the daffodil image!

2-Final

I chose some typical colors of spring and a traditional card design to emphasize the simplicity of the daffodils.  This card didn't need any extra embellishments!

Final

Feast your eyes on this beautiful stack of clear-mount blocks!  They make my heart go pitter pat!  Each block is 3/4" thick, made from high-quality acrylic, and grooved on all four sides making it easy to grip as you stamp!  Clear-Mount Stamps and Blocks are in the just-released Occasions Mini Catalog and may be purchased on January 5, 2010.

Stack

My goal of posting a brand new card every day Monday through Friday has been interrupted - just a little - by Christmas!  Imagine that.  Regardless, this is a good spot to get a sneak peek at products scheduled for release in January.  Check back or subscribe to Polka Dots and Paper... and you'll be able to enjoy MANY THINGS NEW for 2010 - in the next couple of weeks!

BURRRR... IT'S COLD!

According to the nightly news, it's cold all across the USA.  So I just had to use the Snowflake Punch for today's card... Oh, but wait!  Snowflakes come in all shapes and sizes!  Right?  Well, I guess I'll just have to tweak the Stampin' Up! snowflake.  Here goes...

DSC00544

The original punched snowflake is on the left above.  All others are modified from the original.  About 50% of my stampers enjoy the detail of cutting, and 50% do not.  If you identify with the first group and would like to alter a punched snowflake, email me and I'll send you a Simple to Sublime Snowflakes flyer in a PDF format.  There is one technique that makes it easy.  Can you guess what it is?

Here's today's card with yet another snowflake design.  The possibilities are endless...

Snow

To give this card a more sparkling (winter) finish, I popped the Rhinestones out of the Brads and sprinkled the whole thing with Dazzling Diamonds.

DSC00547

For the 50% of you who do NOT enjoy cutting, I have a better idea... Purchase the Sizzlit 4-Pack Snowflake Set #113449 and you'll get 4 designs with NO tweaking necessary!

ON MY LIST OF THINGS I LOVE...

I was thinking of Christmas shopping when I made this card.  Truthfully, however, shopping is way down on the bottom of my list of the things I love... But the card is still cute, don't you think!

I Love

If you don't have the Movers & Shapers Bigz Die yet, drop over to my home workshop and I'll gladly help you experiment.  It is very easy, perfectly precise, and oh soooo fun!

And since I live by the lists I make - and since my lists are all organized and posted and clipped on bulletin boards and in notebooks, for Things To Do and Things To Buy, it seemed like the right touch to add the Mini Library Clips as an embellishment to my shopping card.

A LITTLE BIT TECHY LOOKING...

While in college, I signed up for what I thought was a Techniques of Drawing class.  But it was actually a Technical Drawing class.  This card reminded me of that experience so many years ago... well, not that many.  I completed the class, enjoying it fully, and even received a good grade!  I like this card, with the angles, lines, curves - the technical look.

Jingle

My inspiration came from the lines in the bell.  Somewhere down deep inside, inspiration always springs forth. It is a gift I take no credit for, but am continually thankful.

A BLUE CHRISTMAS WITHOUT YOU...

Have you ever seen a blue cardinal?  I thought of the Blue Christmas song when I designed this card.

Cardinal

Here's what I like about this card... the artistic element that comes with watercoloring... the varied colors of the leaves... the grain of the textured card stock... the reflection of light on the berries... the added dimension of the crimped paper... the brads that match the berries... Can you think of anything else?

Supplies & Accessories: Stamp Set #111760 A Cardinal Christmas; Stamp Pads #101406 StazOn Jet Black, #102977 Night of Navy; Textured Card Stock #108697 Garden Green; Card Stock #100867 Night of Navy, #100730 Whisper White; Color Coordination #101879 Watercolor Pencils; Applicator #102845 Blender Pen; Texture and Embossing #101618 Crimper; Punch 107214 Ticket Corner; Embellishments #106953 Rich Regals Brocade Blue (colored with Night of Navy Stampin' Write Marker); Adhesive #104430 Stampin' Dimensionals.

This Christmas, all the soldiers in our family will be home from their military commitments.  It will be the first time in several years we will all be together.  Now when the song plays on the radio, "I'll Have a Blue Christmas Without You," I won't get teary-eyed... Ken is home from Iraq.  Kenny Jr. will be home for a few days while awaiting orders for Afghanistan.  James is coming home for the holidays from school at West Point Military Academy. (Son-in-law and two grandsons.)  The song, however, still reminds me of all the families who will be separated this Christmas because of war.  And that is cause to feel blue.
